Mom’s Status: 2010-08-04

09:00 AM: Sisters report that Mom is even more alert today.  Her stomach and legs are hurting, and they’re investigating a solution for this.  We’re also looking into having someone sit with Mom full-time to make sure that she does not hurt herself by falling or other activities.

08:00 PM: Just got home from visiting Mom.  Here are today’s tid bits:

  • H+H reading was 9.5 + 28.2 (hemoglobin), which is a bit low again.  She may need another transfusion in the next couple days, as they’ve not been able to do the GI scopes with her fighting the infection.  But there is likely still internal bleeding somewhere.
  • They removed the temperature monitor and cooling blanket.  Her temperature is down.
  • They’ve released her from ICU and as soon as one is available, Mom will be moved to a private room.
  • She’s eating some foods now.  In fact, she ate a whole lunch today.
  • Her spirits are noticeably improved over yesterday; she was watching television, talking more and with greater clarity, and she was awake more.
  • She went to sleep though about a half hour after we arrived.
  • The foot wound she has is on the bottom of her LEFT foot.
  • Oxygen utilization reading was near 100, which is up from the 92 to 96 readings seen yesterday.
  • She was no longer restrained now that she’s awake more of the time.

Should any one wish to send her get-well cards, just send them here to the house and we’ll make sure she gets them.
