08:30 AM: I’m up.

11:00 AM: Hung out with [Emmy], saying our slow good-byes.   She’s leaving today.

01:00 PM: We visited the pavilion and enjoyed the aromatic qualities of fall in the air.  Birds are scarce.  Crickets are scant.  Summer is definitely over, and the warmth today is but a ghost of the summer; now dead.  So the balminess won’t last long.

02:00 PM: Nap time.

03:00 PM: We’re up.  [Emmy] is stuffing the last of her things into her book bag and suit case.

03:30 PM: Nephew Garrett showed up to drive [Emmy] and I to the train station.

04:10 PM: I re-burned the CD I’d prepared for Garrett.  The last one burned was too short.  Plus, we got errors when burning this one the first time.  Those disappeared when I disabled my anti-virus program.  Now, we’re leaving for the train station.

04:30 PM: We’re here on the train platform, awaiting the 5:06 #43 Amtrak to Pittsburgh.

05:20 PM: The #43 arrived, but not before a very long freight passed, then stopped.  We were thinking that with that train sitting around, the Amtrak one would have to wait until the freight left.  But the #43 came though the freight still lingered.  Typically they hold up the passenger train until the freights leave, but not today.  They were running behind schedule, and they discharged more passengers than usual here at Altoona.  Definitely, this was a day of exceptions for the train business in Altoona.  Anyway, we gave [Emmy] big hugs, and then the conductors helped her get on.

05:45 PM: Next, Garrett and I hit the Barnes & Noble book store, and I browsed while he bought a movie or two.

06:15 PM: I’m home now.  Looks like it rained a little while I was gone.  It will be strange being here without either Mom or [Emmy].

09:00 PM: Just finished talking with [Emmy].  She arrived at home at around 8:30 PM, and had an uneventful trip.  Nothing particularly good or bad about the journey; just a typical train trip westward.

12:00 AM: Worked on above housekeeping tasks throughout this evening; including cleaning the bathroom, downloading the August and September issues of Promo Only’s EADFF music series that I’d not yet obtained, and I defrosted the refrigerator in my bedroom and moved all food in it to Mom’s larger unit downstairs.  Since Mom is not here at present, there’s no need to run the upstairs refrigerator.  This will save us a little money on our electricity bill.

12:50 AM: Throughout the evening, I watched all   NBC Nightly News   episodes from 2010-08-06 through 2010-08-16 on the DVR.

01:00 AM: Bed time.  Good night.
