10:15 AM: I’m up.

11:45 AM: Changed vacuum bags in two out of our three large vacuum cleaners.  The Kirbys were easy, and both of them were full.  But Mom’s Filter Queen challenged me a little, as I’ve never worked with this particular machine before (the Majestic Triple Crown, model 99).  Plus, I failed to locate an instruction manual for it after twenty minutes.  But careful inspection of the unit itself revealed how to open it up.  In fact, there are two silver vertical bar clamps that secure the suction motor board on the top.  By pulling each of these clamps outward from a rubber grommet-looking ring on the bottom of the canister, this not only releases the wheel ring on the bottom, but also the motor board on the top.  Then, lifting the motor out of the canister revealed the cone filter, as discussed further below.

This unit has a “cone” filter (not a dirt bag per se).  Rather than the debris collecting inside a bag, it accumulates in the bottom of a canister, and the cone filter keeps it inside; preventing it from being sucked back out into the room by the suction motor on the top.  To mo inexperienced eye, the paper cone did not appear overly clogged.  Further, I have no idea if Mom has any replacements.  So, the cone we have is still good enough to use.  :-)   Yep, that’s the ticket.

12:00 PM: While vacuuming the heaters in the basement, I discovered that our water heater is leaking.  So, I’ve ordered a new one and a fellow is coming by tomorrow to replace the current one, which is six years old (this month in fact).  So, it’s time.

01:45 PM: Vacuumed the first floor floors and steps to the second floor.

04:45 PM: Finished syncing the DJ music drives.  I’ll sync them again, once I rip these sixty new-music CDs.

06:10 PM: Just finished cleaning out the downstairs refrigerator.  I took everything out (of the refrigerator part that is — not the freezer part), removed drawers, wiped down all inside surfaces with soap and water, rinsed everything, and put the drawers and food back.  Discarded some old food; although there wasn’t much of that.

07:20 PM: Watched today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless   on the DVR.

08:15 PM: Started watching today’s episode of   Dr. Phil, but soon found that it involved that high-drama Dr. Phil family.  In today’s episode, one very young lady from the family had a drug-addicted baby, after spending her whole pregnancy denying that she was using drugs.  Yea, right.  No, I’m afraid I’d make a terrible therapist; as I have little patience for idiocy.

08:45 PM: Watched the 2010-08-17 episode of   NBC Nightly News

12:00 PM: Talked with [Emmy].   Now, we’re about to watch the 21st century version of   Hawaii Five-0   on CBS.

11:00 PM: We watched the season premiere of the new   Hawaii Five-0.  I found the Steve McGarrett character to be  noticeably more brash, self-entitled,  too big a risk taker, and excessively arrogant than in the original series.  But maybe he’ll treat his team better once the characters are developed further.  This episode was pretty easy to follow and became interesting about half-way in.  They got different people to play the same characters as the original series; although this series seems to rely very little on anything that happened when Jack Lord played McGarrett.  Over all, I’d rate the show a six out of ten, and I will watch it again over the next few episodes, to give it a fair chance to better impress me.

12:00 AM: Backed my Victor Reader Stream digital recorder and copied the latest fifty audio journal episodes into my permanent archive.

12:10 AM: Heading to bed now.  I must get up early to prepare for the new water heater installation, which is to happen at around 10:00 AM.  So good night, and I’ll have more to comment on tomorrow.  Take care.
