08:45 AM: I’m up.

10:00 AM: Scheduled a dental cleaning and exam for mid November.  Several of my teeth are aching when exposed to either hot or cold.  So I imagine that this is going to be a bit costly.  But I must do it, lest I not be able to chew much on the right side of my mouth.

10:30 AM: Initiated the process to close Mom’s final credit card account, now that I am the designated power of attorney on that account and now that she’s staying at a nursing facility for an indefinite period.  This won’t happen immediately, as they must send us forms and additional information.  But at least we’re under way with this.

10:40 AM: Called our financial advisor to tell him of the information which I obtained last week from the county assistance office regarding the financing of Mom’s stay in the nursing facility.  He was unavailable.  So I left him a message.  I expect that he’ll return my call soon.  He’s always pretty good about that.

01:00 PM: Spent the past couple hours researching Pennsylvania Medicaid law that pertains to the state’s asset recovery program.  I’m interested in learning about  Medicaid-friendly assets, and what the rules are when transferring non-friendly assets to the friendly ones.  By “friendly,” I mean those assets that are less subject to seizure should Mom require permanent nursing facility care.

02:00 PM: Posted the    Tom’s Views –> Accident Tax?   piece.

05:00 PM: Watched today’s episodes of    The Young and the Restless   and   Dr. Phil   on the DVR.

05:30 PM: Heading out to trivia night with a few of Mom’s girl friends.  Back later.

09:00 PM: I’m back home.

09:40 PM: Talked with sister Christine about Mom’s situation.

11:15 PM: Talked with [Emmy] on the phone.

11:30 PM: Heading to bed.  More tomorrow.  So, good night and take care.
