08:50 AM: I’m up. I feel much better today. No chills now, my vision has returned to normal, and the fever is gone too.
10:00 AM: [Emmy] called to check up on me; she read my Facebook post about feeling ill. It sure is nice having someone like her, who cares so.
10:30 AM: Moved Mom’s queen-sized bed out of her bedroom to make room for the hospital-style bed, to be delivered in the next hour or two.
01:00 PM: Hospital bed, portable commode, and bath tub bench delivered and set up. However, we’re still waiting on the transfer board. The fellow who brought the other equipment said he’d arrange for this to be brought to us sometime this afternoon.
01:30 PM: Sister Mary Ann arrived a little while ago. She brought the fixings of a beef tips dinner for us all that she’ll fry up and cook in the crock pot.
02:30 PM: Mom arrived. We’re having her try all of the transfers one more time while the home care experts are still here.
03:15 PM: After roughly six transfers in a row, Mom is exhausted. So we moved her to her favorite chair in her sitting room.
04:30 PM: While Mom rested, we busied ourselves with washing all her laundry that she had at the nursing facility. Plus, I familiarized myself with her new list of meds. This has changed significantly since she last resided here over three months ago.
05:15 PM: Sister Jojo arrived. She stopped on her way home from work.
05:20 PM: Discovered that Mom’s cell phone charger cable is missing; it was apparently not packed with the rest of her things and is likely still at the nursing facility. Calling them now…
05:30 PM: Yes, they have her charger. We’ll pick it up tomorrow on our shopping and errand trip.
06:30 PM: Supper time! It smells wonderful.
08:00 PM: Sisters Mary Ann and Jojo worked in Mom’s bedroom to move stuff out that Mom’s not likely to need (we need SPACE more than anything else at this point).
09:30 PM: Sister Mary Ann finished folding the bulk of Mom’s laundry, and she’s now heading back home to her family. Thanks for all the help, Mary Ann!
10:15 PM: Talked with [Emmy] on the phone. I couldn’t chat long because I’m feeling sick again. The chills and fever came back this evening; though not as severe as last night. But in spite of the less severe symptoms, I still feel a strong compulsion to go to bed, and so I will do that right now. I’m sleeping downstairs now, so I can hear Mom should she call for help. Good night.
01:30 AM: Mom called out. She’s experiencing low blood sugar symptoms. She read it to be 52. Giving her a couple glucose tablets and a piece of pumpkin cake.
02:00 AM: Her blood sugar has risen to 70. However, we’ll have to adjust her sliding scale. They have her on an apparently stronger fast-acting insulin than she was the last time she was here. I’ll work that issue over the next few days.
02:15 AM: Okay, the house has settled down again and everyone is drifting off to sleep; exceptme. The “sleepies” that comforted me so well a few hours ago have deserted me. So, until they return, I’ll just listen to exerts from my audio journal on my Victor Reader Stream. That usually puts me to sleep pretty quickly, better than any sleeping pill.
We’ll see how it goes tonight. Good night again, and take care.
