Log
08:30 AM: I’m up. Odd that I woke up this early considering that I went to bed so late last night. I guess that even with a late night, my body still likes to get up when the new day brightens the skies. But I’m sure I’ll want to get to bed early tonight.
08:45 AM: Got Mom up and dispensed her morning meds.
09:30 AM: I’m dedicating myself today to paying all pending bills, and to that end, I’m starting off by balancing all my checking accounts for this month.
10:00 AM: I noticed that the $392 that I paid the nursing facility for rental on one of those little suites for Mom, has not yet been credited back to my checking account. Mom ended up not staying in the suite; opting instead to come straight home when she was discharged. It’s been over a month now. So, I’m calling them to determine what’s taking so long.
10:15 AM: I just talked with Courtney, who said that they’re printing out new billing statements today and that this credit would appear on the December bill we should receive in a few days. Great!
10:30 AM: All checking accounts balanced. Now, to the bills.
10:35 AM: $60 for two doses of flea medicine for the cats yesterday. My, the premiums we pay for pest-free animals. But I’d rather do without, than itch. “Life’s just full of tough choices, ain’t it?” Good morning!
12:45 PM: A couple nurses arrived to evaluate Mom’s overall health and mood. They’re also seeing if they can substitute some cheaper medicines for the ones that Mom feels she needs but cannot afford. Hopefully by late tomorrow afternoon, Mom’s PCP will have received the recommendations from these nurses for the alternative medicines to prescribe, and that he’ll have called these prescriptions in. Now, back to bill-paying.
03:30 PM: [Emmy's] email has stopped working. Investigating.
04:00 PM: We found that somehow, [Emmy's] user Id and password fields in her Outlook email account have become corrupt. She fixed them, and this restored normal email operations. Phew! I’m glad the difficulty wasn’t more complicated.
04:45 PM: Watched yesterday’s episode of Dr Phil on the DVR.
06:00 PM: Helped Mom to and from the bathtub. I think we have a system worked out with the shower curtain and how to lay it over top of the bathtub transfer bench, so as to keep the water in the tub and off of the bathroom floor and away from the heat register. Mom sits on the edge of the curtain; making sure to position the edge of the curtain above the tub. This way, when the water runs off the curtain, it drops into the tub. Sounds simple. Right? But with Mom so weak, it can be hard to get her properly situated to do this. But, we’ve figured it out now.
10:00 PM: Worked the DJ Gig: 2010-12-31 preparations.
12:15 PM: Helped get Mom ready for bed and dispensed her night meds. She’s going to sleep in her easy chair tonight with the hope that she’ll get better sleep there than she has in her bed the past few nights.
01:45 AM: Watched today’s episode of The Young and the Restless on the DVR.
01:55 AM: Began the de-fragmentation operation on this computer. It usually takes eight hours or so.
02:00 AM: Bed time. Catch you again tomorrow. Good night.
Received Mail and Shipments
- Misc. bank papers.
- Allstate auto insurance offer. Not at this time, thanks.
- Credit card offer from GM. Not at this time, thanks. Boy, everybody’s offering a credit card these days! Hmmm. I wonder if that’s one reason why there’s such a credit crisis in America today.
