Log

07:30 AM: I’m up.  Today, I plan to pack in totes all the lights I’ve taken down so far, per the    Christmas Lighting: 2010   project.  I was going to take down the rest (those on the house roofs) today.  But it’s snowed a couple inches overnight.  So I’ll delay that until we get some warmer, drier weather that brings less slippery ground with it.

08:00 AM: Leaving now for   shopping with sister Jojo.  Back later.

11:15 AM: I’m back home and have put away all the groceries.  A small load this week.  But I finally got some new belts and some emery boards for [Emmy].

01:00 PM: Vacuumed the kitchen and exposed hardwood on the first floor.

02:00 PM: LED Christmas lights saved us some SERIOUS money this year! January 2010′s electricity bill: $300. January, 2011: $200. Plus, it’s been colder this year than last, and electricity generation rates ae higher too. Last year, we decorated with hundreds of outside incandescent lights but went all LED this year. In about five years at this rate, the LEDs will pay for themselves. Neat!

03:00 PM: Watched today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless   on the DVR.

04:30 PM: Cooked steaks and fried vegetables for   [Emmy]   and myself.

08:30 PM: [Emmy]   opened a few more of her Christmas gifts from me tonight.   She received a thick wooden spoon, a talking cube clock, and a Marpac Sleep Mate for her bedroom.  She was thrilled; her cheeks becoming very big as she smiled intensely.

08:45 PM: Nap time.  Back in a little while.

09:30 PM: I’m back up again.  [Emmy]   is still sleeping downstairs on the couch.

01:00 AM: Watched the 2010-12-16 through 2010-12-22 episodes of   NBC’s Nightly News    news show on the DVR.  I’m catching up from the holidays.  [Emmy]   came in a little while ago and she’s now watching today’s episode of  KDKA TV’s   Pittsburgh Today Live   on the DVR.  I really wish they’d make these DVRs accessible for the sight impaired.  This one I have is totally inaccessible, and so, [Emmy]   must rely on me to work it for her when she wishes to view one of her recorded shows.  Well, perhaps with Apple blazing the trails of highly accessible electronic devices, perhaps other manufacturers will follow suit and upgrade theirs as well.  This couldn’t come too soon for people who can’t see, like   [Emmy].

01:15 AM: Heading to bed.  More tomorrow.  Later.
