07:00 AM: I’m up. Today, I hope to watch and clear off some more of the older TV shows on the DVR, pay all of Mom’s pending bills, and figure out how much Mom owes me.
07:30 AM: Watched the 2010-12-31 episode of NBC’s Nightly News on the DVR.
09:15 AM: Swept the sidewalks. Looks like we got a dusting to an inch of snow overnight.
09:30 AM: All Mom’s bills that we have for this month so far have been paid. Now I’m figuring out how much she owes me.

01:10 PM: Heading out now with sister Mary Ann to visit Mom at the hospital. Back later.
04:15 PM: I’m back home. Mom’s holding her own. But nothing has changed really. She’s very tired and weak, though the physical therapist says that she is getting stronger. Mom agrees. Yes, they’re administering physical therapy (PT), and seeking approval to move her temporarily to a nursing facility that specializes in a highly structured approach to PT. We found her alert but quiet. She’s still sensitive to light and coldness, and very sad. But I guess I’m pleased that she’s at least, not declined over the past several days.
05:35 PM: Watched today’s episode of The Young and the Restless on the DVR.
05:50 PM: Nap time. Back later.
07:05 PM: I’m up again. Several phone calls came in while I was trying to sleep. I’ll go through those now.

08:10 PM: Posted the Shopping Trip: 2010-12-23 piece.
10:10 PM: Listened to the last two periods of the Penguins hockey game with [Emmy] on the phone. The Penguins won, 5 to 2.
10:15 PM: Cleared a wide path all the way from the kitchen door, across the kitchen, down the cellar steps, and across the floor to the old washer so that the men can deliver our new machine with ease tomorrow.
11:25 PM: Watched today’s episode of Dr. Phil, which continued the story of radio announcer Ted Williams finding his way back to success from homelessness. Dr. Phil is advising him along his journey.
11:30 PM: Heading to bed now. So good night, and stay dry and warm. Take care.
Received Mail and Shipments
- Refund check from Mom’s nursing care facility. Apparently we overpayed.
- WeightWatchers PointsPlus advertisement and offer to attend a meeting. Not at this time, thanks.
- An eye doctor bill for Mom.
