08:00 AM: I’m up. Today, I hope to continue clearing off more of the older TV shows on the DVR, receive our new washing machine, and continue working on figuring out how much Mom owes me.
09:50 AM: Posted the Shopping Trip 2: 2010-11-24 piece.
10:45 AM: The new washing machine has arrived and has been installed. I’m reading the manual now.
11:15 AM: Now, I’m washing two pillows in it. It’s really quiet and appears to use much less water than the other machine.
03:00 PM: Washed a couple pillows and a large blanket in the new washer (3 loads). So far, so good. It’s much quieter than our old machine and seems to use much less water.
03:35 PM: Watched today’s episode of The Young and the Restless on the DVR.

05:00 PM: Spent the past couple hours studying and watching our new washer in operation. Its actions are quite a bit different than the more traditional “agitator” kind. This one is a high efficiency model that has no full-height agitator. Instead, it has a little knob like thing that protrudes a few inches upward from the bottom of the wash tub. But the machine seems to agitate the clothes just fine, even without that bit, towering agitator that used to take up so much room (less for clothes) in older washers. Further, the tub and this smaller agitator move independently of one another and so at times, they move in different directions. I guess that helps get the clothes cleaner. Finally, this washer is much quieter than our old one and appears to draw much less water. Rarely does it fill the tub completely, even when full of clothes.

05:45 PM: I’m up again.
06:30 PM: Watched today’s episode of Dr. Phil on the DVR, which covered more of the Ted Williams story and focused on how Williams may have slipped back into alcoholism in spite of his new-found success with his “golden voice.” Dr. Phil offered him rehabilitation services, which Williams accepted. I think they’ll follow Williams over the next few months and report back on his progress or set backs.
07:30 PM: Watched the 2011-01-01, 2011-01-02, and 2011-01-03 episodes of NBC’s Nightly News on the DVR.
08:30 PM: Watched the 2011-01-09 episode of CBS’s 60 Minutes news show on the DVR.
09:00 PM: Posted the Shopping Trip: 2010-12-07 piece.
11:10 PM: [Emmy] kept me company on the phone for a while this evening while I cleaned off the sticker glue from the top and sides of the new washing machine.
11:15 PM: Heading for bed now. More tomorrow. Good night.
