07:05 AM: I’m up.

07:45 AM: Leaving now for weekly shopping and to visit Mom.  Back later.

11:00 AM: Took walk #14 of 100 in 2011 at the mall in Altoona; 45 minutes in duration.

01:00 PM: Filed papers with nursing home to get Mom onto Medical Assistance coverage for her nursing care.  That meeting was highly productive and took approximately an hour.  There are still a couple papers we need to produce.  So I’ll make those arrangements next week.

03:30 PM: I’m back.

04:10 PM: So, I bought a   manual push mower   today to incorporate more aerobic exercise into my life style. I just finished using it outside for the past half-hour or so.  But man!  FAR MORE exercise than I imagined. Four passes for the same cutting effectiveness as ONE pass on my Cub. Plus, those four passes are exclusively me-powered besides. *long exhale* Later. I have to let my heart slow down. :-) Well, at least I won’t have to cut the WHOLE yard manually like that.

05:00 PM: Watched today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless   via the DVR.

05:25 PM: Watched yesterday’s episode of   NBC’s Nightly News   broadcast via the DVR.

05:30 PM: Nap time.  Back later.

07:00 PM: I’m awake again.

09:15 PM: iPodded for a half hour, listening to WOGL radio in Philadelphia.  Great 1970s music.

10:00 PM: Worked on the laundry throughout the evening.

11:00 PM: Talked with   [Emmy]   via the phone.  She’s feeling pretty good this evening.  Nice mood.

12:00 AM: Watched a bit of news and Facebooked.  Friend count: 512.  Fan count: 109.

It’s a brand new manual push mower I bought. Well, not QUITE brand new. Someone bought it, used it once, and promptly returned it. So, Sears gave me nearly $40 off on it. I see why the first owners took it back though. But I’m keeping it. It works fine. It just works HARD!

We had TALL grass this time (first cutting this year). We also have 2 acres of it. Besides, I’m just coming off of a sedentary winter. So I am admittedly “out of shape.”

Actually, the story of a neighbor buying one of these and being quite pleased with it (via sister Jojol) inspired me to buy a mower just like it. I’m not disappointed in it really. I’m sure that as I use it, I’ll get stronger, and the effort will eventually seem effortLESS. That’s what happened with the weed whacker anyhow. :-)
