08:15 AM: I’m up.

08:30 AM: Facebooked for perhaps fifteen minutes. Friend count: 625 (unchanged). Fan count: 114 (unchanged).

12:30 PM: Balanced all five checking accounts under my management.

01:15 PM Vacuumed the first floor.

02:00 PM: Watched today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless   via the DVR.

03:00 PM: Requested a disbursement from the    WPSBC Alumni Association’s   investment account.  Their checking account is getting low, and we must assure that we have sufficient funds on hand for the upcoming alumni convention this summer.  The amount I requested should not only stop those low-balance monthly service fees that the bank who hosts our checking account charges us, but should also provide enough liquid capital for all alumni business for 2012 and beyond.

04:15 PM: Watched today’s episode of   Dr. Phil   via the DVR, called   Starving To Death.

06:30 PM: Next long-running project: Phase out all cloth-insulated, two-wire fifteen-amp circuits here at my home; upgrading those still needed to three-wire twenty-amp circuits that employ state-of-the-art insulation.  This house really shows its age when you see its deteriorating original cloth-covered wiring.  I’m working on the first circuit now.  I don’t need a new box yet, as it was last replaced in 1997 with a 200-amp service.  I would however, love a 400-amp service, on MY OWN transformer !

07:30 PM: Watched tonight’s episode of   The CBS Evening News.

08:00 PM: Watched tonight’s edition of    NBC’s Nightly News   via the DVR.

10:00 PM: Listened to my iPod while watching tonight’s Florida Republican debate.  I’ll watch this again over the weekend via the DVR; this time, without the iPod, so I can pay full attention.

11:00 PM: Talked with   [Emmy].

12:30 AM: I inadvertently cut out the supply line for the first circuit I’m upgrading before realizing that that wire fed the overhead lights in the kitchen as well as those on the south porch.  See   [Emmy]?   I do indeed make mistakes.  So I spent some time upstairs in the crawlspace, looking for a new place to get power for those lights.  I found one.  I must say that I was surprised to find that clipping the old wires inside an outlet box in the living room, deprived power to lights so far away (in the kitchen).  But 65 years ago, they did not run as many circuits as they do now in houses.  I believe that before our service upgrade in 1997, this place only had six or eight circuits.  Now, we have roughly thirty-four.

12:55 AM: Listened to my iPod and facebooked for a couple hours, and fiddled around a bit more with the wiring upgrade project.

01:05 PM: I’m heading to bed.  Good night and do stop back tomorrow for more content.  :-)    Good night.

03:15 PM: Brought in, inspected, repaired, and put away all outdoor extension cords from my 2011 Christmas lights display.

03:30 PM: Brought in, inspected, repaired, and put away all Christmas lights from the west fence.  No major problems found.  Just one bulb came apart and cannot be repaired.

04:30 PM: Watched today’s episode of   Dr. Phil   via the DVR, called   17 and Out of Control.

04:30 PM: Nap time.  Back later.

06:45 PM: I’m awake again.  Still really sore and played out from this past Monday’s basement window upgrade work.  I’m either really out of shape, or I’m getting old.  Probably a combination of both.  Yep.

08:30 PM: Watched the 2012-01-23 Republican debates via the DVR.

09:45 AM: I’m up.

10:00 AM: Facebooked for perhaps ten minutes. Friend count: 620 (unchanged). Fan count: 114 (unchanged).

11:30 AM: [Emmy] called to say that she’s decided to have a pesky cyst removed from the back of her neck next month.  I advised her against doing this unless she felt it was very necessary, given it’s proximity to her spine (right on top of it in fact).  However, it bothers her enough that people might see it and ask about it, that she’s going to take the admittedly small risk and have it taken off.

01:10 PM: ‎10.0 miles on the treadmill today (up 1.9), at 3.75 MPH, 3% incline, 68 degrees F room temp, for 2 hours and 40 minutes (up 1/2 hour), 1308 calories burned, 20 Oz. of water consumed, with heart rate peaking at 148 BPM.  Man, it sure requires lots of work to restore just a bit of that elusive youthful thinness.  Grrrr.  But I’m tasting some of that runners’ high.  So it’s not too bad.

02:55 PM: Took down all eight strings of lights on the east porch stairs railings.  No bulbs needed replacing in these, owing to the fact that these particular strings are of much higher quality (and about double the cost) of some of my other strings. The strings themselves are still in excellent shape.  They’d better be, given what I paid for them last year.

03:00 PM: Worked on getting this blog caught up; I’m perhaps ten days behind on these journal entries.

03:45 PM: Watched today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless   via the DVR.

06:45 PM: Watched today’s episode of  Dr. Phil,   called   Partying to Death.

11:00 PM: Talked with   [Emmy].  We watched tonight’s rerun episode of   Hawaii Five-0.

11:20 PM: I’m heading to bed.  Good night and do stop back tomorrow for more content.  :-)    Good night.

12:05 AM: The daily traffic stats from yesterday for my blogs.  The monthly keyword hit count for this run is ???, up from 936 at last check.  The record high for this dimension remains at 1788.  The next goal: 2000.

09:45 AM: I’m up.

10:00 AM: Facebooked for perhaps ten minutes. Friend count: 620 (up four). Fan count: 114 (unchanged).

11:30 AM: [Emmy] called to say that she misses being here, and I certainly miss having her around.  I just may have to visit her later this month.

12:00 PM: Took down the three strings of icicle Christmas lights on the south porch.  No repairs needed this time, and no bulbs were out.  Amazing how much longer the lights last when they’re not out in all the weather (these were situated under the porch roof, and so they got little rain exposure).

12:30 PM: Took down all lights on the west stoop.  Just two bulbs needed replacing in these. The strings themselves are still in very good shape, even though I bought these back in 2008 and have used them each Christmas holiday season since.

01:10 PM: Watched today’s episode of CBS’s  Face The Nation   via the DVR.

02:00 PM: Watched this past Sunday’s episodes of NBC’s   Meet The Press    weekly news broadcast via the DVR.

03:00 PM: Worked on getting this blog caught up; I’m perhaps ten days behind on these journal entries.

03:05 PM: Hmmm.  The DVR recorded no episode of   NBC’s Nightly News   broadcast last night.

04:00 PM: Heading for sister Christine’s house.  We’re going to watch the Steelers Vs. Broncos game.  Back later.

08:10 PM: I’m back home, with a heavy heart.  The Steelers lost to the Broncos in overtime play, 29 to 23.  Grrrrrr.

10:00 PM: Just added this week’s batch of 160 new songs to my DJ music library.  While I do not DJ much anymore, It’s sure nice having this stuff on the iPods.  Great treadmill music.

11:00 PM: Talked with   [Emmy].

11:50 PM: Watched tonight’s episode of CBS’s   60 Minutes   news broadcast via the DVR.

12:05 AM: The daily traffic stats from yesterday for my blogs.  The monthly keyword hit count for this run is 936, up from 927 at last check.  The record high for this dimension remains at 1788.  The next goal: 2000.

12:50 AM: Watched the last two episodes of the 1970s children’s sci-fi show   Space Academy,   called   Star Legend,    and   Johnny Sunseed.

01:00 AM: I’m heading to bed.  Good night and do stop back tomorrow for more content.  :-)    Good night.

05:00 AM: I’m awake and cannot return to sleep.  So I might as well get up and do something productive rather than just laying in bed, feeling bored and accomplishing nothing.

07:15 AM: I paid some bills and got caught up on some email.  But sleepiness has returned.  So I’m gong back to bed for a bit.  Back later.

09:45 AM: We’re up.  I didn’t sleep very well last night; my bedroom grew quite warm overnight.  Maybe I should place fewer covers on my bed.

10:00 AM: Facebooked for perhaps ten minutes. Friend count: 619 (unchanged). Fan count: 114 (unchanged).

12:00 PM: Walked to Sheetz to withdraw some dollars and grab a hot chocolate for   [Emmy],  while she busies herself packing.

01:45 PM: Watched today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless   via the DVR with [Emmy].

02:00 PM: Sister Jojo arrived.  She’s taking us shopping, to visit Mom, and to drop   [Emmy]   off at the train back to Pittsburgh.  Back later.

02:45 PM: First, we visited Wal Mart.  Really crowded compared to when we visit early on Friday morning.  But I got everything I need for two weeks (Jojo cannot take me next Friday).

03:30 PM: Next, we went to Dunkin’ Donuts for lunch.  We got the egg, bacon, and cheese on croissant sandwiches and some decaffeinated coffee.

04:30 PM: Next, we visited Mom for about an hour.  Then, Jojo waited with Mom while   [Emmy]   and I walked to the Altoona train station.

05:10 PM: [Emmy's]   train arrived.  Far less crowded than when she got it home on December 27th.  Anyway, the conductors helped her on and I asked them to stow her bags very close to her so that they’d be easier to locate when they arrive at Pittsburgh.  They smiled and agreed.

05:15 PM: Heading back to the nursing home, to continue with the visit.

06:05 PM: Jojo and I visited further with Mom.  Her supper came, and she ate perhaps half a plate full of food.  Mom seemed to grow tired after she ate.  So we decided to head home.  Besides, I must record tonight’s Penguins hockey game for   [Emmy].

06:20 PM: I’m home.

06:30 PM: Started the recorder.

08:00 PM: Took down, repaired, and stored some more Christmas lights.

08:50 PM: Received a call from   [Emmy].  She’s home.

10:00 PM: Watched last night’s and tonight’s episodes of   NBC’s Nightly News   broadcast via the DVR.

10:45 PM: The Penguins lost to the New York Rangers tonight, 3 to 1.

10:50 PM: Posted the recording of tonight’s hockey game for   [Emmy]   to download and listen to on her Victor Reader Stream or her NLS DTB player.

11:00 PM: Talked with   [Emmy].

12:05 AM: The daily traffic stats from yesterday for my blogs.  The monthly keyword hit count for this run is 927, up from 923 at last check.  The record high for this dimension remains at 1788.  The next goal: 2000.

01:20 AM: Watched the next four episodes of  Space Academy   via my DVD player.

12:10 AM: I’m heading to bed.  Good night and do stop back tomorrow for more content.  :-)    Good night.

08:30 AM: I’m up.

08:40 AM: Facebooked for several minutes. Friend count: 606 (up one). Fan count: 114 (unchanged).

09:15 AM: Worked out on the treadmill for 40 minutes, walking and jogging approximately 2.3 miles and burning off roughly 390 calories, for walk 105 of 100 in 2011.  I made the 100-walk goal for this year.  Good!  Next year, I’ll try for 130 workouts.

10:45 AM: Leaving now to visit Mom at the nursing home.  Back later.

11:30 AM: I arrived at the nursing home and unpacked Mom’s clean clothes and packed up her dirty ones in the laundry bag I brought with me, to take home later on.

12:30 PM: It’s cold today but sunny and dry.

01:45 PM: I’m back home.  Mom was feeling very well today, had much energy, was only slightly tired, and we had a little lunch together whle watching bits and pieces of   The Young and the Restless   on the first floor lounge television.

06:00 PM: Watched   KDKA TV’s Local News   broadcast with   [Emmy].

08:00 PM: Spent a couple hours replacing roughly 25 burnt-out LED bulbs on the Christmas lights outside.  One string had so many out that none of them worked on that string. So I replaced it with a spare, working string, and then repaired the defective one at my work bench in the basement.

09:30 PM: [Emmy]   is watching   Mike & Molly   while I work here at the computer.

11:00 PM: [Emmy] and I watched tonight’s episode of   Hawaii Five-0.

11:15 PM: We’re going to bed.  We’re planning on visiting the Logan Valley Mall tomorrow afternoon to take in some of the many sights and sounds of Christmas.  True.  Altoona is no New York City.  But it should provide ample Christmas aromas, colors, and music to bolster our holiday spirits.  More then.  Good night.

12:05 AM: The daily traffic stats from yesterday for my blogs.  The monthly keyword hit count for this run is 796, up from 790 at last check.  The record high for this dimension remains at 1788.  The next goal: 2000.

09:30 AM: We’re up.

09:40 AM: Facebooked for several minutes. Friend count: 603 (up two). Fan count: 114 (unchanged).

02:15 PM: Watched today’s episode of   The Young and the Restless   via the DVR.

03:30 PM: Heated up some left-overs for lunch for the two of us, and we spent the past hour or so talking lightly and saying good-bye.

03:45 PM: Leaving now to accompany   [Emmy]   to the train, for her return trip to Pittsburgh.  Two new friends are driving us.

05:10 PM: [Emmy's]   train was on time and just left, and we’re now driving home.

05:30 PM: I’m home, all by myself.  Our friends commented in a complimentary fashion on my Christmas lights.  They like all that blue.

07:30 PM: Watched today’s episode of   Dr. Phil   via the DVR,   called   Marriage Meltdown, Part 3.

07:50 PM: Watched tonight’s episode of   NBC’s Nightly News   via the DVR.

08:30 PM: Set up my artificial holiday tree in the living room on the west wall, right beside the television.  I’ve got the lights on it working and have placed a few decorations (ribbons, bells, and balls)  on it.

10:30 PM: Recorded tonight’s hockey game on the Victor Reader Stream for   [Emmy],   as she was unable to listen to the game while traveling.  I just sat the Stream next to my Internet radio in a quiet room, using its built-in microphone.  The recording came out surprisingly good for this sort of equipment configuration.

11:00 PM: Talked with   [Emmy].  She made it home, safe and sound, and has unpacked.  She has a sleep study appointment tomorrow, which is why she had to return to Pittsburgh today.  Hopefully, they’ll approve her for the third phase of this study, where she actually begins to receive, for certain, the drug that they’re studying.

11:15 PM: Uploaded the recording of the game and sent an URL to it to   [Emmy].  I put it into a zip file first and uploaded that, as doing this with audio file as the original .3gp format caused download problems for Internet Explorer.  Internet Explorer would attempt to play the .3gp file when following the URL to this file (undesirable behavior), while zipping the file caused the file download window to pop up (preferred behavior).  At any rate, once I determined this, I zipped up the file and uploaded it to my public storage site and sent an URL to it to   [Emmy].  All done.

11:20 PM: I’m heading to bed.  More tomorrow.

12:05 AM: The daily traffic stats from yesterday for my blogs.  The monthly keyword hit count for this run is 791, down from 792 at last check.  The record high for this dimension remains at 1788.  The next goal: 2000.

10:00 AM: We’re up.

10:10 AM: Facebooked for several minutes. Friend count: 601 (unchanged). Fan count: 114 (unchanged).   Received a couple compliments on my blue Christmas lights.  Many people know me now because of this decorating, that I’ve done in blue now for the fourth straight year.

12:30 PM: Watched today’s episodes of NBC’s   Meet The Press   and CBS’s   Face The Nation   weekly news broadcasts via the DVR.

01:55 PM: Leaving now for an afternoon with one of my computer repair customers.  He and his wife have invited   [Emmy]   and I to their apartment for lunch and conversation.  Back later.

05:45 PM: We’re back home.  We enjoyed the afternoon with these new-found friends, and learned alot about them during our nearly three-hour philosophical discourse.  I need more of this sort of activity in my life.  It really helps stave off the blues of loneliness, with which I’ve been grappling as of late.

08:30 PM: Watched the 2011-11-21 episode of   Dr. Phil   via the DVR, called   Marriage Meltdown, Part 2.

09:20 PM: Watched the 2011-11-22 episode of   Dr. Phil   via the DVR, called   Most Outrageous Monster In-Law Returns.  This obnoxiously judgmental and controlling mother in-law returns to the show to again confront her son in-law, who she vehemently disapproves of.

10:10 PM: Watched the  2011-11-23 episode of   Dr. Phil   via the DVR, called   Heaviest Woman On Record.  The guest weighed approximately 700 pounds, and Dr. Phil has hired a team of health and medical experts to guide her through the journey of getting down to a healthy weight for her.

10:30 PM: Watched tonight’s episode of   NBC’s Nightly News   via the DVR.

11:00 PM: [Emmy]   went to bed.  But I’m staying up a bit longer, as I’m not yet sleepy.

12:05 AM: The daily traffic stats from yesterday for my blogs.  The monthly keyword hit count fell this time, and currently stands at 777, down from 791 at last check.  The record high for this dimension remains at 1788.  The next goal: 2000.

12:45 AM: Watched the 2011-11-27 episode of CBS’s   60 Minutes   weekly news show via the DVR.  I particularly enjoyed the piece on food flavor engineering and how this industry may be partly responsible for America’s current obesity problem.  The piece on Angelina Jolie was particularly informative as well.  But I found it intriguing not so much because of its content, but rather because I was so little moved by Jolie’s beauty.  I mean, she is revered to be perhaps the most beautiful woman in the world, and yet, her looks did not woo me; not even on my new HD television.  Perhaps this was due to the fact that HD TV conveys much more detail about a subject, including their imperfections.  That may be it.  But I think it’s more due to my growing disenchantment with a woman’s beauty.  I’ve learned that invariably, the beauty of a stranger quickly gives way plainness when the stranger becomes a lover who is familiar to me.  A beautiful woman does not predict, sadly to say, an eternal string of nights of wonderfully blissful bedroom fulfillment.  As this reality has become more apparent to me, my intrigue with beautiful women has commensurately fallen.

01:30 AM: I’m now headed to bed.  Good night.  Come back for more tomorrow.

07:00 PM: Conducted my nightly inspection of the Christmas lights outside.  Found one string with ten burned-out LED lights.  So, rather than hot-repairing it on-location, I replaced it with a spare, fully-functioning string I have in stock, and then replaced the bad bulbs at my work bench in the basement.  This particular string is one of the first ones I purchased back in 2008, and so it’s got a lot of hours on it. Thus, the numerous failed bulbs.  Still however, i have yet to see an LED last for the entire rated time of 50,000 hours.  Indeed, many don’t even last as long as their incandescent predecessors.

08:15 AM: [Emmy will watch some of the 911 TV shows I recorded for her on the DVR while I prepare our mini Thanksgiving dinner throughout this morning.  I plan on having the meal ready at 1:00 PM.

09:30 AM: Turkey's in the roaster, so that three hours and some odd minutes from now, ...,  Mmmmmmmmmm!  Now, what do I do with those giblets and neck?  I decided to boil them with onions, then make gravy with the broth.  Yum!  :-)   Happy Thanksgiving!

01:00 PM: The meal turned out pretty well.  We had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, corn, green beans, and cranberry sauce.  I didn't make any other items, as we'll be eating another Thanksgiving dinner at sister Christine's tomorrow, and she'll be serving some of the other Thanksgiving staples that I did not, such as green bean casserole, pineapple souffle, pumpkin pie, and so on.

08:20 PM: Watched tonight's episode of   NBC's Nightly News   via the DVR.
