Facebook Tid Bits: 2010-07-20

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

02:51 AM: Hey, your fish pictures are gone again.

11:52 AM: If giving away your happiness makes you happy, then you’ve not actually given it away at all. You’ve just traded one quantity of happiness for another. Yep. Trick question, and trick answer too. :-)

01:54 PM: Tell nephew Grant that I said, “He’s Awesome!”

01:56 PM: I get Promo Only’s eNewsletter, and love it.

01:57 PM: I neither deny nor accept His existence as a given. He could be out there; but then again, maybe not. So what would He say about me to His father? Hopefully, He’ll show mercy to those like me who found no rational way to confirm his existence in their lifetimes, but who would accept Him once his power was clearly demonstrated; even just a little.

03:15 PM: No, I’m not a Sarah Palin fan. I do NOT think she’ll be president (at least, I sincerely hope not), and no, I’ll not be casting my “Like” vote for her. Thanks. Those darn Facebook ads anyhow. :-)

10:10 PM: Cool. On the Sony portable reader: I guess you have no problems reading the screen on their smaller version. They’re adding more books all the time, and before too long, you’ll have access to a huge library of publications. Those units are really awesome.

Today’s Business: 2005-08-18

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

Dear   [Emmy],

Got your message.

The computer is working well.

I did some writing between 3:30 and 5:30 this morning. For some reason, I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night lately, and can’t get back to sleep for a couple hours. So I figure I’ll just work when that happens, until I’m once again tired.

I applied today for a $50 rebate for the cell phone. Scanning the UPC symbol so a copy of it could be printed to include with that application was a bit difficult. But it’s done now, and hopefully in eight to twelve weeks, the check will arrive here.

The weather’s nice here today as well. Bright sun, and temps in the low eighties.

I spent a couple hours with the journal this morning, and hope to finish reading Job this afternoon.

Well, take care, and will talk to you later.

Writing Update

Monday, July 14th, 2003

[Brenda],

Yep, the prayers are pretty funny, but a bit reverse-chauvinistic, don’t you think? :) They remind me of Judge Judy. [In my view,] she frequently tends to imply that males are airheads.

Anyway, the writing business is going well. I’ve joined a writers club and have had a couple of my short stories and articles reviewed. They like them so far.

Here’s something I wrote after getting home from the grocery store a while back. It should give you some clues as to the kind of work I’m doing. My mission is to help people be less shy in my writings, enabling them to confidently initiate romantic relationships with those they truly desire. This way, they won’t settle for someone less than what they really want just because they were just too afraid to let their true loves know how they felt. My writings often take the form of letters to significant people in my life. The names of course, are changed to conceal their real identities. . .

Well, what do you think?

Take care,

Dear Lynn: On Religious Conversions

Monday, November 15th, 1999

[Lynn],

Hmmm. Sounds like you have several nice traditions established, with some good people – hard to find that these days. There was a couple that lived across the cul de sac from my house in Dayton that were very helpful. We went to church together, to movies, and the occasional dinner. The had two teenaged children that were definitely chips off the old block. Nice people. However, their kindness seemed to have a condition associated with it. That is, they wanted to convert me to their religion. And once I told them that I was a firm agnostic, they tended to avoid me thereafter. But they were good people with no OTHER hidden agendas. :-)

Well, I’m off to a teleconference. Catch you later today.

The Quest For A Church

Monday, December 20th, 1982

I spent many Sunday mornings this year with my high school health teacher.  I still ached for [First Love] a year and a half after we broke up, and the teacher still ached for her ex-husband; they divorced over three years ago.  So the two of us sought a place close to God, that would heal our hearts and somehow, make us whole again.

I never found a church though, that erased my pain, although the teacher was far less critical about such places than myself.

[More later on this.]
