10:40 AM: Leaving now for Lowe’s home improvement center for a bit of shopping. Back later.
03:30 PM: I’m back home. I picked up a steak sub from Dominick’s that is located just outside of Lowe’s. I also purchased the Honeywell RLV430A programmable thermostat for the upstairs bedroom. I liked the RLV310A non programmable thermostat I installed up there recently, except for the fact that it was non programmable. So, I was frequently turning down the heat in the morning, and turning it up at night. The programmable thermostat will automate that procedure, freeing me for more important and more desirable tasks.
04:00 PM: Installed the Honeywell RLV430A thermostat upstairs. No problems encountered, and it works great.
06:30 PM: In an effort to reduce the buzz and hum from the electric baseboard heater in the upstairs bedroom, I thought I’d wrap a small amount of fiberglass insulation around the element where metal brackets hold it in place, to act as a sound insulator that would, so I hoped, reduce the amount of vibration transmitted from the heating element to the case of the heater. However, the fiberglass did not stand up to the heat produced by the element very well. It smoked. Further, there was no appreciable decrease in the volume of the hum and buzz. So I removed the fiberglass insulation, and will look for a better sound-deadening material; that can also withstand hundreds of degrees of temperatures.
