Log
08:45 AM: I’m up.
09:00 AM: Facebooked for perhaps ten minutes. Friend count: 619 (down one). Fan count: 114 (unchanged).
10:40 AM: Leaving now to visit Mom at the nursing home. Back later.
11:05 AM: I arrived at the nursing home. However, Mom is not in her bed. Investigating.
11:06 AM: A nurse, seeing me entering Mom’s room, told me that Mom had a urologist appointment this morning and that she did not know when Mom would return. Oh, great. But then, another nurse heard our discussion, and came over to say that Mom was sitting in the social area, just beside the nurse’s station. So, after I unpacked her clean clothes and loaded up her dirty ones into the laundry bag I’d brought with me, I went there to join her.
11:30 AM: I then visited the nursing home business office to settle up with them for this month, and to give them some papers that detail a pension increase that Mom started receiving this month. The ladies were polite and cordial as usual, and after finishing the business with them, I headed back upstairs to join Mother.
11:35 AM: Mom said her appointment went well. No surprises, but no real improvement either. However, the doctor did order more labs be drawn over the next day, to further check Mom’s progress at fighting these infections that have plagued her for at least the past year.
12:00 PM: We then watched the rest of The Price Is Right while catching up with each other’s lives over the past few days.
12:05 PM: [Emmy] called to say that she mailed my Victor Stream adapter back to me. Readers may remember that she inadvertently packed my adapter for her return trip to Pittsburgh, thinking that it was hers.
12:25 PM: Mom and I ordered lunch from a nearby Chinese restaurant, called Eastern Express I think. Not bad, but I like the place near [Emmy's] apartment in Pittsburgh better. I got the chicken with cashew nuts dish, and Mom had the General Tso Chicken. Mine was a bit bland, while Mom’s was more than a bit spicy. However, we enjoyed the lunch; though Mom ate less than half of hers.
01:30 PM: Mom and I then watched today’s episode of The Young and the Restless on the plasma television in the 2nd floor alcove.
02:15 PM: Then, we went to the gym. They’ve renewed their efforts with Mom to see if they can build up her strength and confidence in her legs to allow her to stand. She really wants to come home, and appears willing now to work a bit harder to restore some of her mobility. Unfortunately, I doubt that she’ll be able to stick with it once the exercises become really difficult. But there’s always hope I suppose.
03:00 PM: After the gym, we went to the dining room; Mom wanted to play bingo. So I waited there with her for my ride.
03:10 PM: My ride home arrived.
03:45 PM: I’m home, and still feeling wiped out from yesterday’s treadmill workout. However, I like that feeling, as it’s an acute reminder that I indeed accomplished some muscle growth. It’s a pleasant sort of tired feeling, even though my thighs certainly hurt.
04:30 PM: Watched today’s episode of Dr. Phil, called Psychic Investigations.
04:45 PM: Nap time. Back later.
06:30 PM: I’m awake again.
07:30 PM: Processed today’s mail.
08:00 PM: Just got off the phone with my medical insurance provider. Tried to pay my January and February premiums. However, due to a system glitch, they could not process the payment. So I suppose I’ll either have to wait a week or two for them to straighten it out, or just pay the invoice when it arrives. I’ll probably do the latter.
10:00 PM: Watched tonight’s episode of NBC’s Nightly News and last night’s episode of NBC’s Rock Center news shows via the DVR.
11:00 PM: Talked to [Emmy].
11:20 PM: I’m heading to bed. Good night and do stop back tomorrow for more content.
Good night.
12:05 AM: The daily traffic stats from yesterday for my blogs. The monthly keyword hit count for this run is 954, down from 956 at last check. The record high for this dimension remains at 1788. The next goal: 2000.
12:30 AM: Had trouble sleeping. So I’m getting back up and will read about installing glass block windows for traffic noise reduction in my basement.
01:55 AM: Watched several videos and read a few articles on how to install glass blocks into an existing window. Seems pretty straight forward, with the keyword being straight. I’ll have to depend on my eyes and ruler to assure proper alignment of the blocks. Still though, this doesn’t seem too bad. I’ll visit Lowe’s later this week to see the sorts of blocks and associated supplies that they sell.
02:00 AM: Okay, I’m sufficiently tired to try to sleep again. Good night.
