Getting on WPSBC’s Web Site

Sunday, November 27th, 2005

[This is a letter to my high school, inviting them to place a link on their web site, to the WPSBC Alumni Association web site.]

Hi.

My name is   Tom Hesley,   a 1979 graduate of WPSBC and current treasurer and webmaster in the school’s alumni association.

The group has a web site for informing past students about each other, the organization, and school as well. To improve our odds of being found through the popular search engines, we hoped you’d be willing to place a link to our site…

http://www.wpsbc-alumni.org

somewhere on the school’s site. Perhaps it would go well under the ‘About the School’ or ‘Support Services’ links, or perhaps you could add a new tab to the top of your home page called ‘Alumni”, and put the link there.

Our organization name is…

The Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children Alumni Association

Give me a call at 814-742-xxxx or email me at pulse@xxxxxxxxx.yyy if you have questions.

Thanks very much for your consideration,

Tom Hesley

PS: Say hi to [Tad] for me if you think of it. He and I were classmates.

Seeking Web Site Help

Monday, November 14th, 2005

Hi [customer service people].

I have lots of repeating data in my web pages at

http://www.wpsbc-alumni.org.

Some of it I can move to a single file, and then include that file on my individual pages. Does Domain Direct support server side includes?

I’ve tried [this type of include] and am having trouble getting it to work.

If this is not supported, can you suggest another way to accomplish the same thing, that will work?

Thanks for your help.

2005 Alumni Bulletin

Monday, November 14th, 2005

Dear [parliamentarian],

All is well here.

Yes, we have administrative control of the site now so we should be able to move forward with getting more relevant information onto it.

I’ve added the 2005 bulletin you sent to the site. Check it out if you like.

Updating Emmy: 2005-11-13

Sunday, November 13th, 2005

Dear [Emmy],

Yes, well, in pointing out your “flaws” in writing, I hope you know that I never wish to humiliate you. But I know how much prospective employers pay attention to this sort of thing, and I want to make sure you maximize your chances of finding a job by making you aware of your mistakes, so that your writing will improve. The better your writing, the better your chances for success in the job market.

Jay (the cat) comes upstairs every day and nudges and butts me with his head. Then he jumps onto the counter and knocks my cups and teabags all over the floor. The brat!

What things that I do, do you consider   weird ?

What is a “websit”?

Thanks for looking at the   WPSBC alumni website.  I appreciate any feedback I can get. Perhaps you’ll enjoy looking over our Bellwood Lions Club website once I get it up and running.

Tom Hesley

Adding to the WPSBC Alumni Web Site

Thursday, November 10th, 2005

Good deal, [...]. Thanks for the feedback.

I’m currently working to get more stuff on the site. Let me know if you can think of anything additional people would like seeing there. We have 100 MB of disk space available for the web site files, but are only using about 3 MB of that so far. So, lots of room for expansion.

Access to the WPSBC Alumni Web Site

Monday, November 7th, 2005

Dear [alumni president],

I just talked with [the former web master], and now have control access to the web site files. I’ve changed everything over to my name.

By the way, [he] has been paying for the site costs for years 2003, 2004, and 2005. We’ll need to pay $79.95 to renew the site this coming March for another year.

FYI,
Tom Hesley

Found the WPSBC Alumni Web Site URL

Monday, November 7th, 2005

Dear [C],

Yep, I did get the URL to the site [, which, by the way, is:  http://wpsbc-alumni.org/  ]

I know who the hosting provider is now [too]:

Now I just need to get the password to enter the account there and once that’s done, we can update the site. Working on doing that now.

The information you provided was invaluable. Thank you very much!

Glad to hear that [your friend] is squared away [with his computer issue]. :-)

WPSBC Alumni Web Site: 2005-11-07

Monday, November 7th, 2005

Friends,

Thanks to [C] (class of 1974), we’ve been able to locate the URL for the alumni association’s web site. It is:

http://www.wpsbc-alumni.org

Would you forward this to any interested parties you can think of?

We’re planning to upgrade the site and hope that you check it out from time to time, to stay abreast of alumni information, activities, and future events.

Thanks,
Tom Hesley, Treasurer

WPSBC Alumni Web Site

Sunday, November 6th, 2005

Dear [current web master],

My name is Tom Hesley, and I’m currently the treasurer of the WPSBC alumni organization. I was wondering if you’re still interested in maintaining the alumni web site. If not, could you supply me with information on how to access its files? We have numerous updates and additions we’d like to make.

You can call me at 814-74x-xxxx, or I can call you if you provide a phone number.

Thanks very much,
Tom Hesley

No Alumni Website Liink

Wednesday, March 9th, 2005

[Tad],

I’ve been checking the school’s web site, hoping to find a link to the alumni one, but I haven’t found such a link so far. I did, however, find a picture of me, working at KDKA, back in 1979. Wow.

There’s also a picture of you and [RG] with Terry Bradshaw on the school site. Cool.
